For those searching for high-gain, affordable hearing help yet good quality, the Spectra-PP is a excellent value. This hearing aid comes out of the Siemen's family of companies. The Spectra-PP is a high-powered aid for severe hearing losses. Since the aid features two trimpots, one for tone and one for output, this aid can also handle a variety of configurations of hearing problems, including severe high-frequency losses. Reliability is good with the Spectra-PP. It's a larger aid and uses the larger, #675 battery. You can expect two to three week's life from a battery.

The Spectra-PP is a high-powered, basic, conventional instrument. It is analog and linear. This hearing aid features a volume control as well as an M-T-O switch (microphone/telephone/off). The middle position of the switch is a special setting for telephone use. The manual trimpots are easily accessed and simple to adjust should a person desire to do some of their own fine tuning adjustments (although we do preset the aid for an individual's hearing loss according to the information provided). Everything needed to wear this aid right out of the box is included at no extra charge.

Within minutes, I was wearing my new aid, and marveling at how wonderfully it compared to my old ITE aid, which never seemed powerful enough for my degree of hearing loss. I am sure the transition to this aid will be fast and troublefree. My original thought was that the supplied Mushroom tip would meet all my needs, as it seems comfortable, and seals well. However, I have now decided to also get the softmold custom earmold. All contacts, both e-mail, and phone calls have been responsive and positive.
